On 14th January 2006, Wallaroo Primary School was the victim of an arson attack. Our 128 year old Heritage listed stone building was totally gutted by a 2 million dollar fire. The fire resulted in relocating 3 classrooms to the Wallaroo Town Hall for the first term of the year.

We sincerely thank the Mayor of the Copper Coast, Mr Paul Thomas and his team for their continued offers help to make the first day of the 2006 school year a smooth transition for the Staff, Students and Parents of Wallaroo Primary School.

We lost our library, ICT suite, 4 classrooms, a Special Ed Room and all of our Teacher Resources. Fortunately the stone building can be repaired but this will take at least 18 months.

Late in Term 1 temporary transportable buildings were put on the grounds so that the whole school community were back together again. We are rising from the ashes to make our school great again!!!
