Welcome to the 2008 school year at
Last year was one of celebration as we
excitedly returned to the stone building following the devastating 2006 school
fire. The community support and building restoration culminated in a terrific
reopening ceremony late in term four.
This has signalled a change in focus for
us this year, as we now devote our energy and resources into consolidating the
many wonderful learning programs we have in place.
We have begun the year with 7 classes
and minimal staff changes. Our first weeks have been organised, calm and focused
on building class teams and matching learning programs and support with our
learners.
Our Junior Primary Unit had a great face
lift during the break, with upgrade of ceilings, floor coverings and wet area.
So, our buildings and resources are now first class and we are keen to utilize
these to maximize student and staff learning.
We anticipate another busy and exciting
year, with the extra challenge of hosting the Small Schools Sports Day in term
three.
Our two main areas for school
development will be to increase our knowledge in the areas of Restorative
Justice and Oral Language. We will also be looking to explore ways that we can
provide Out of School Hours Care, how we can manage the new Healthy Food
guidelines and how to improve the fitness levels of our students.
We look forward to another year where we
strive to teach, model and acknowledge our core values of care, respect,
persistence, teamwork, success, pride and learning.
Enjoy your year.
